I was today years old when I realised the toilet seat has a release button to remove for easy cleaning.
Prior to this I had been scrubbing with small brushes 🫣 (I’ve been responsible for cleaning bathrooms in whatever house I am living in for 32 years)

Can you tell me exactly where this button is please? I've been cleaning toilets for nearly 40 years now and have never known this. Are you sure it's not just on expensive toilets/lids?

Mines a broken hinge.😒

GentleSheep · 22/10/2025 11:16

Never heard of a release button! Do tell!

WildCherryBlossom · 22/10/2025 11:56

Eh?

Hopeful16 · 22/10/2025 12:00

I’m not sure that they all do. Ours does since we refurbished the bathrooms but didn’t have beforehand.

Hi, it’s the silver button in the middle. It lets you lift off the metal upright rods. Not sure when they were invented. At least 4 years ago as that’s when we moved into our current house.

Interesting! No haven't got that, but our loo is pretty ancient so not surprising really.
