Why does this brown stuff keep appearing?!

What is this brown almost sticky wet stuff in my shower caddy? This is the second caddy I’ve bought in 2 years from B&Q. Claims to be rust free but rust appears within weeks. Some brown spots are rust whilst this brown stuff on the bars is sticky?! It comes off with the Pinkstuff and a good scrub. But within days it’s back.
I try to only keep 2/3 bottles max of products in the caddy and clean them off of soap etc before putting them back. Shower itself it used once a day by my husband, sometimes twice a day if I use it also.
Any Idea what causes this? And how I can stop it?

These are horrible. The only way is to wipe them totes dry after every use. I gave up in the end and dont have them anymore. Just bought a compact cabinet and store all my stuff outside of the shower in there.

My water sometimes leaves a brown residue round my bath plug hole. It could be the mineral content of your water reacting with the metal

The only way to stop it is to dry the caddy after every shower. See if you can get a plastic coated one instead
