Second hand items!

Hi I have purchased a used dehumidifier.
It was stated as excellent working condition. I didn't want to fork out on a brand new one as I've already got one downstairs but because it's huge didn't want to carry it around the house so bought one second hand.

I think iv just wasted £50 as it has an awful smell to it when switched on but it does technically work.
What can I do to get rid of the smell.

I would buy a replacement filter but I don't think that's going to fix the smell.
Does anyone know if I can clean the inside of it. It's an ebac 2400e dehumidifier.
Thanks

Mine started to smell and eventually I realised it was coming from the water collection tank. It needed a really good clean to get rid of the smell (hot water and washing up liquid).

It will be mouldy inside probably. They can be serviced /cleaned by a technician, don’t attempt to remove the cover yourself as there are compressors and refrigerants etc inside. Try shining a torch inside the housing to see what it looks like in there.
