Best stain remover for blood?

DD has just started her periods and has had a few leaks. I'm soaking in cold water but could do with some sort of stain remover - any recommendations?

Add quite a bit of salt to the cold water

Bleach and a toothbrush - rub quickly. Only works with white pants though

I read somewhere that if it brines meat then it also gets blood out. I use salt and water.

Cold water with some salt. You don't want to rupture the blood cells! Wash as much out as possible and dry in sunlight. Then rewash as normal. If that doesn't get it out can also try citric acid which is good for removing any iron based stains (including suncream marks and rust).

Use cold water (can add some fairy liquid) the blood is a protein so anything warm will ‘cook’ it to the fabric. You could soak in cold water for a bit then scrub but it will work.

I use cold water and Vanish gel. Rub in and leave that on and then wash as usual..sunlight will finish any remaining strain off

Vanish Oxy spray. Foams up in a very satisfying manner in contact with blood.

Having all my life believed that ‘hot water cooks blood stains’ I am amazed to discover that DH is after all correct, we can get blood stains out of white cotton sheets using Persil biological powder and Vanish Oxy white on a hot 90deg wash. Who knew?

If you've hot washed and dried something with bloodstains then bio powder rubbed in a paste and then washed can still save it.

Everything I read online was "cold wash, don't blah blah" which was too late for me. But bio powder did the trick when no other stain remover did.

Vanish liquid works on pretty much all biological stains.

I've recently had success with Ace spray, similar to Vanish oxy action but doesn't foam up quite as much, however seemed to work better for me.

After getting some blood on my clothing whilst having a blood sample taken a while ago, the nurse very kindly gave me some saline sachets and told me that'll get it out. And she was right!

It's not as complicated as people seem to think. Just rinse out with cold water until the water runs clear and then wash at no higher than 40° and use bio detergent. I've been using reusable sanitary pads for years and I still have some of the original pads with no staining and they're white. The bio detergent is the key. Vanish etc are just very concentrated bio detergent.

Napisan gets rid of loads of different stains. I’m allergic to lots of soap powders and detergents, especially biological ones. Napisan is the one I can use, it’s been brilliant on tea towels with stains from spaghetti sauce and turmeric. It doesn’t even need a very hot wash either. I buy it in bulk, so I always have some in.

Astonish Oxy Action stain remover - pre treat and chuck in the wash as normal

Salt in the prewash.

Soak it in cold water then use an ordinary bar of soap to rub in. Rinse out the soap and the stain will have vanished. Works a treat even if the stain has dried in.

Agree with all advice to soak in cold water ASAP. And even if you can't soak immediately, soaking in general helps.

I also find that Cusson's Imperial Leather bar soap is amazing for shifting all kinds of stains, especially biological ones. A good lather and scrub with the I L works wonders, especially if you don't fully rinse it out.
