Is my washing damp or cold ๐Ÿ˜–

I know this is tragic from me - but as soon as direct sunlight disappears, I canโ€™t tell whether or not my washing is dry or damp. I will leave it out for a day (occasionally overnight ๐Ÿ˜ณ) and only know it was still wet after taking the risk - leaving it with a smell.
is there a way to tell if itโ€™s damp or just cold?

I squeeze the thicker bits of the washing, like pockets, waistbands and where it's been folded over. If that feels colder than the rest of the washing, I'd say it's not completely dry. Sometimes, I put it in the airing cupboard to finish it off.

When it doesn't feel actually warm, I usually put it on the heated drier for an hour or two just to make sure. If it is still slightly damp when put away it will start to smell a bit.

Difficult to tell, I try to put cold things somewhere to air overnight and see if they feel better in the morning, not very elegant if I leave underwear spread over the back of the settee but it's only overnight.

I find putting it against my cheek gives me a better idea of whether itโ€™s cold or wet.

If it's so close to being dry that you can't tell, I don't see that it's a big deal. Just bring it into the house and it will warm up/ get rid of the faint trace of moisture. Or maybe press a tissue onto one of the thicker items really hard and see if any moisture comes through.

Put it on your lip, youโ€™ll know

@RetailIsMyTherapy I could never tell so used to put it on my cheek to test ๐Ÿ˜‚

My dad once caught me doing that with my knickers and asked what I was doing ๐Ÿ˜‚ my hands are always cold so I can never tell if itโ€™s wet or just cold xx

Test on your top lip.

I press it against my face too, no idea why it works but it does!
