Are there any effective gadgets for cleaning the outside of your windows?

I do have a window cleaner but he’s very unreliable. My windows have been really quite dirty now for weeks and I just want to clean them myself rather than rely on someone else. I’ve heard about magnetic window cleaning devices but don’t know anybody who uses them, are they any good? And there are some window cleaning robots too, although they seem very expensive though.

whet do you recommend?

I use a karcher window vac.

bucket of soapy water first if really dirty, microfibre cloth. Then a spray with the window cleaner and then zoom over with the vac.

Thanks for the advice. My question is for how to do the outside of the windows when you can’t reach (first and second floor windows).

Someone I knew had the magnetic thing, as he lived in a flat, it wasn't very effective, sometimes it fell off, and he still had to soap the outside of the window.

This was many years ago and they may have improved. I see that you can buy one now from B&Q, so you could get one abd try and return it if it is not up to the job..

Long arms! If I sit on the upstairs window ledge with the windows open I can just about reach all of the outsides from one angle or another. The Karcher thing might give me a few more inches reach, might give that try, talking of which they could do with a clean now!

I have a leifheit extending window pole that reaches 2nd floor. It's quite good.but takes practise.

Cordless pressure washer. I got mine for £20 on Amazon. Bucket of water to put the hose in and it sprays far so great for high windows.

I tried the magnetic things a couple of months ago. They fell off every other minute and I ended up with bruises all round my wrist from the tether line. Can’t even say it did a good job and it took ages.
