Vacuum cleaner recommendations

Looking for some vacuum cleaner recommendations please after my shark pet hair has stopped working. Needs to be something that will perform well in a household with small children and a hairy dog.
Probably looking for an upright. Annoyingly the model we had seems highly rated in most places but I’m reluctant to buy another!

Not an upright, but I have a Henry and he is very robust.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 27/08/2025 15:59

Also not an upright, but I love my Miele Cat and Dog vacuum cleaner.

Don’t get any form of Dyson, they are shite.

I’m going for a Henry. May not be cordless or upright, but everyone I know who has one, raves about him and for 140 quid, he’s a bargain.

Another vote for Henry.

There’s a cordless shark on offer at the moment. I’ve bought it. It’s good. And a good deal.

I’ve also heard good things about vax.

would not get a Henry. So heavy and cumbersome to drag round everywhere but they are powerful. But I wouldn’t ever be bothered to use it.

Anther vote for a Henry. I’ve given up on uprights now

We have a Sebo and it’s magnificent. I think it’s at least 15 years old now….might be a bit older. It copes brilliantly with everything that rural family life with a dog can throw at it. It’s an old school upright with a bag. As long as you change filters as required it performs brilliantly. The filters and bags are easily available online.

We’ve had two vax hoovers, not good at all.

We have Henry. He is really good and strong. We had a Dyson before, it was not long lasting and expensive

Ihateboris · 27/08/2025 17:15

Sebo. The most amazing vacuum cleaner ever. And I have two hairy labradors

HundredMilesAnHour · 27/08/2025 17:18

Another vote for Sebo. I’ve had a Sebo Felix Pet for 15 years now and it’s still utterly amazing. Worth every penny.

Miele are the best.
