Big lovely stainless steel cooker. Used a stainless steel cleaner spray. Once it dried it's left a huge oily looking rainbow like stain that I cannot get off and ruins the look of it completely. HELP! Expensive cooker and first thing you notice when you walk into the kitchen is this big splodge of a stain on it. the same has happened on the overhead extractor hood above the cooker.

Cif stainless steel is the best commercial cleaner, more of a cream. sprays are shite

maidamess · 30/05/2008 11:37

Yes use oil on it. it makes it come up like new. Smear it on with kitchen roll.

Use 'Bar keepers friend' as a cleaner on stainless steel. Its fab. you can get it in Asda. its doesn't scratch (providing you use a soft cloth)

I also use glass and surface wipes on my stainless steel, they don't smear either.

This bloody spray has left a big mark; is it possible it's permanently damaged the stainless steel or does baby oil cut through most stains. I'm bricking it now. Just called the cooker company and £54 to buy a new side panel; £94 for the engineer to come and fix it!!!

why don't you try oil before you get yourself into a state?

or just washing up liquid and water and a good polish
