Serious fly infestation

Oh my word. I don't know what's going on. I've got circa 25 flies in my dining room. And there's more appearing in other rooms. They're big and fat and horrible. I've got one of those zap-insect things on (the blue light thing) but they're ignoring it. What is going on? I've no fly spray and friends coming for lunch any minute. EEEEEEEEEEEEEk.

No one's replying because they think you're a serial killer with lots of bodies stashed in your house

You might have a flies nest in your attic or some other secluded spot.
We found one on the side of our chimney flue a few years back.
We sprayed the whole place with fly spray and then vacuumed up all the corpses - hundreds. It was horrible!

That's hundreds of flies in the attic (not the main part of the house!)

A flies nest? A nest? They all look the same kind of fly so maybe it is a nest. But to suddenly appear today is freaky.

Ah well, we're going to eat in the garden. I'm going to ask the guests to watch the DCs whilst I sprint off to get fly killer.

This happened in the spare bedroom of my old house. It freaked me RIGHT out; was like a horror film. I just kept going in there, spraying toxins into the room every twenty minutes until they were all dead.

Looked and looked for the source of the problem but never found it. Good luck.

you have a dead animal (mouse, rat or bird) somewhere, and the maggots are hatching. it is probably in the wall space or ceiling/loft above the room, the flies will be coming out of somewhere (v commonly from around light fittings in the ceiling). Is there a light fitting with lots of speckledy fly poo around it?

I'd fly spray the room hard and particularly around the exit point if it is obvious, close the door and come back and hoover up later.

If it is a dead animal you'll get masses of flies all at once and then nothing after taht...

it happened to me when I was 39 weeks pregnant! We'd just moved house and I think that some hugely pregnant fly had hatched on our spare bed mattress because the horrid things were crawling out of a hole in the brown wrapper the movers had put round it. Being hugely pregnant I didn't want to spray the highly toxic fly spray that we had (a Rentokil special) - so had to wait for dh to come home then sit on the back step while the place de-fumigated.

in my very hormonal state I thought it was an ill omen about the new house and wanted to move immediately before dd was born!!!

(we've now been here almost a year and dd has not yet become possessed in a Exorcist type of way )

Our problem appeared overnight because the flies all wake up when the weather warms up.
