Slug trails in house!!!

Help!! We keep finding slug trails in our extension room and also the utility room next to it. Where the hell are they coming from? We’ve lifted all the furniture up and can’t find any slugs. We’ve hoovered and mopped everywhere. We’re about to take up the rug and replace it with a new one I’ve put salt down around the areas we’ve found trails. We tried beer too but didn’t catch any. I’ve found a slug when I came downstairs one night so I know it’s slugs not snails. We wondered if they or their eggs were coming into the house on the dog but haven’t seen anything on him also he swims most days - mad Labrador. Any advice is welcome

I had this at a previous property, it was inherently damp. I kept the heating on a bit more and cleaned up the trails as soon as they appeared. It got worse after it had rained!

If your windows have been open they will easily climb to upstairs windows. You might see their trails up the outside walls first thing in the morning.
We also had a slug problem coming in behind the washing machine, although there wasn't a visible gap around the pipes the cold also came in, and I imagine slugs are quite bendy and stretchy.
This seems to be peak big slug time of year, with the big rain after the big heat.

We get them too, I think they probably squeeze under the back door as they are always in that area. I have put some copper tape along the threshold but it doesn't stick very well to the wood, it stopped them for a a bit but they are back again now, I had to chuck one out this morning. Not nice.

They’re only downstairs thankfully. I wouldn’t sleep if I thought they were upstairs too. I don’t think we’ve any damp and the extension is fairly new - about 6 years. The flooring is wood laminate. I don’t know how they’re getting in - we’re tearing our hair out trying find where.

Brought in from soles of shoes.....vegetables from the garden possibly....check the back of the fridge.....place crushed egg shells around the perimeter of the room

We had them in the hall next to the cupboard under the stairs. There was a leak on the incoming water supply pipe and the void under the house was ideal for them. We think they were climbing up the pipe were it came up through the floorboards to the internal stop tap. Once we got the leak sorted we never saw them again.

We had them in the kitchen when we had an old back door. Replaced the door and never had them again
