How to get rid of a hidden smell

I can’t get rid of a smell in my living room! I’ve cleaned everything, stripped all the furniture out, washed the carpet with the carpet cleaner, cleaned the sofa, washed the curtains and it’s still there!!!! What’s the best products and ways to even cover whatever it is up? I can’t stand it anymore!

You haven’t got vitamins in a drawer have you ? I had an odd smell and discovered it was coming from a tub of multivitamins my husband had bought (and never used).

If you think it’s on carpets I’d spray with white vinegar and open a window

What's the smell like, can you narrow it down?

Thankyou I’ll try the white vinegar. The smells in the living room and we keep medicines in the kitchen (away from the kids) I don’t know if it is the carpet I can’t pin it down but it’s driving me mad

Dead mouse/rat under the floorboards if it's coming from carpet direction?

@GoldDusterI can’t explain, it’s almost like something is rotten but I’ve moved everything and washed the carpets and floors so there’s nothing hiding rotting somewhere

I have an open fire so the chimneys got a cage thing on the top and anything would drop straight down? I’ve rewashed absolutely everything, smells better….. for now see how it is in the morning. I’ll try the vinegar if it’s still smells by morning. Thankyou all for the advice

If its like a fishy type smell get your electrics checked

There was a dead mouse under my bed for just a few days and the smell was horrendous . I hope you manage to find it sounds a tricky one

Currently same problem.. Stagnant smell op?
Lack of ventilation - air bricks blocked by newish patio out front and back (rental).. Damp expert coming to put new air bricks in. . Check under stairs cupboard for wet looking concrete near the meter..

It smells like something’s off or rotting, I have airbricks and ventilation for the open fire so don’t think it’s that. Having had another full room clean I think it’s maybe the cat food. My youngest DS is two and hard work, loves nothing more than when I need a wee to throw cat food everywhere or anything else he can find for that matter. Hopefully after a second wash and clean out it will be gone
