Flies

I have an autistic child that hates flies and has meltdowns when they come in the house, I have to keep all windows closed all the time but we still get the occasional ones in. I’ve tried those hanging ceiling traps even though I hate them but they don’t even land on them! Fly spray is out as we have fish, what else can I do to get rid of them once they get in the house?! The meltdowns are driving me crazy.

Use mesh at the windows you want to be able to open and a fly screen on your kitchen door; having an electrified bat to kill any that get through is useful too.

I keep all windows shut but they must get in when we open the door sometimes to get things etc, they would be too fast for a bat I think even my cat can’t catch them

We’ve got Velcro fly screens. Life changing!

We keep windows closed but they still get in when hanging washing out or putting bins out etc

Not sure how to do links but we have like a plastic tennis racket with wires across where the rackets strings are, from Amazon, that has batteries in it. You just need to hold it near the fly and they get zapped as they fly into it. Much faster and easier than the plastic fly swats.

i’ve seen them but do they actually catch flies the ones in here seem pretty fast?

Join any Western Australian autism parenting fb group and ask there. We are the fly capital of the world so someone must have tips to either keep those final few out or wind down dc’s reaction. Fly screens are automatic on all doors and windows here.
