Super glued rings together (on finger)

My fault entirely, but I picked up an old bottle of superglue, squeezed it to see if it was still runny. It was.

All down my fingers (which I will peel off using hand lotion) but it’s stuck my wedding and engagement rings together.

How do I separate them without damaging them (husband died last year) and they are precious.

Thank you.

The rings are also stuck on my finger.

Soak your hand in hot soapy water for ten minutes or so. That should soften it enough to separate the rings. You could try nail varnish remover as well, that worked for me when I glued a couple of fingers together.

Get bowl of hot water and washing up liquid and just soak your hand. The rings should unglue for your hand. Then use a toothbrush and hot water on the rings x

Thank you! I’ll try that now. I just panicked a little thinking I’d ruined my rings. X

Hand sanitizer. Presumably you've used it with your rings on before so would know if it was damaging.

Thanks, I hadn’t realised that hand sanitizer would remove superglue.

Did it work work Op??

On my fingers it’s perfect, but my rings are still glued together, hopefully it’ll wear off soon. Can you see the glue in the picture?

I’ll just keep rubbing with the soapy toothbrush. I don’t want to try and force them apart, in case
I break it (I know I won’t really but it’s a worry) 😊Thank you for all your help.

Could you take them to a jeweller with a workshop?
I'm thinking maybe heating them up would probably melt the glue and enable them to be separated. (Thats what I would try, if I was presented with this issue)

That’s a good idea, thank you. I’ll do that on Monday if they don’t come apart over the weekend.

You could try heating with a hairdryer before going to a jeweller.

hexsnidgett · 26/06/2025 20:04

Nail varnish remover should get it off.

They are free! ❤️ Thank you all so much for your ideas and help. X
