How to get this stain out?

I don’t know what it’s from, and it’s been there a while. I tried Vanish spray and a cold hand-wash cycle on the machine (as it’s technically hand wash only), which made the stain much smaller and lighter, but didn’t get rid of it…

Washing up liquid, in case it's greasy? Then another cold wash. I wouldn't do anything hot, although it sounds like you shouldn't anyway.

Wet some white bar soap rub on the stain and wash the top.
