Fecking flies!!!!

So it’s that lovely time of year, you open the patio doors to let that glorious warm fresh air in, and along with it comes bloody flies, who then spend the whole time dancing in a circle in the middle of the room. Apart from the obvious - keeping everything shut and boiling to death, or putting beading draping across the door frame, is there anything else that will stop them coming in? I didn’t want to cover the door with beads/netting as it’ll block some light out, but needs must!!!!!!

Open a window somewhere else to create an exit route/pull through draught. I find if I have doors open they circle all day. Doors + small window open, they just go in and straight out again.

We have fly screens ( roller midge blinds) on all of our windows so door is shut and windows are wide open , we get the occasional gnat who sneaks in the front door when someone comes in but that is all . Our main lounge has 2 large windows onto the garden and they let in plenty of air plus we have lots of fans in all the rooms

I'd get one of those nets with the magnets in the centre to create a door. I'm sure you can get them on white which doesn't block the light like the standard black ones

We only have patio doors, so can’t open a window. Well, we can but it’s right the other side of the room and they never go out there 🤦🏻‍♀️ we had the magnetic ones last year but got ripped with DS constantly in and out. Maybe need to invest in some better ones…

Nancy Birtwhistle recommends studding half a lemon with cloves. I’ve done it near the fruit bowl and so far, flies seem to keep away 🤷‍♀️
