Sentimental cards and notes - storage options?

I am drowning in sentimental "paper products": ie greeting cards (to me and to the kids) and cute notes the kids wrote when younger etc

I am aiming to recycle a good chunk but want to keep the more sentimental stuff. Can anyone recommend a good storage system? I think I need more than a memory box as that will just become another box. I think I want to separate it all into categories: birthdays/Mothering Sunday/cute notes or drawings when they were younger etc

I've looked online and don't really like the DIY ringbinder option. Do I just need an expandable A-Z plastic folder?! I am getting very overwhelmed. Just tried to sort through a box but couldn't.

Any other tips? I would love to be the type of person who could just ditch the lot of it but I am not that person!

Can you photograph them then print into a book, do one every few years or so to keep current?

@doradoo has just said exactly what I came on to suggest! There's an app called photobooks where you can get them printed for free and just pay for postage.

There is a YouTuber who makes 'glue books' using eg an old hard covered diary. You just choose the cards and messages you want to keep and glue them in. I did one with thank you cards from kids i teach and its turned into a nice keepsake.

Depending on the size a photo album might work. Or make a posh scrapbook - glue in a sturdy envelope then you can put groups of items in a pocket. I'd do it chronologically and then you could add a couple of photos of the kids that year to each section. A high quality ring binder and hole punched card stock could work really nicely
