We live in a 1930s 3 bed semi so not an old old house, we have kids and the house is fairly clean and tidy however we have a recurring silver fish problem we’ve had it since we moved the bathroom into the 3rd bedroom and have noticed the odd one on the landing window sill, bedroom floor, bathroom, it’s always the same time of year. Summer when it’s humid, it makes me feel unclean and unsettled.
I hoover regularly and I don’t want to put chemicals down because of the kids. What can I do?

These are usually a sign of damp so if its a new bathroom I would be checking for leaks, especially if you didnt have them before installing the bathroom.
Good news is, they are harmless.

We had them in my old house (Victorian terrace) they look so horrible! I found that they hate lavender so I made up a lavender spray and if I saw one would spray it everywhere and they would go away for a few weeks. We never managed to get rid of them upstairs but downstairs they disappeared when we had the kitchen redone and boarded up a gap to the outside wall.

my SIL and my FIL both have trouble with these.
They are in The Netherlands and both live in new build houses with state of the art air filtration systems.
I always thought they were related to damp, but now I am not sure!
