My OH wants to cut the arms off my sofas!!!

Help. My OH and i have been browsing for a new sofa, i think our lounge is too small for a corner sofa which he wants. We currentely have 2 small ikea sofas. After much rowing, he is now about to cut the arms off said ikea sofas to make a corner one and then cover sawn off, crappy edges with throws! Someone convince him that it cannot possibly work!!

well no it couldnt work i have a corner sofa in dp's house and the ends are different shapes so that they fit together against the corner, you have a triangle shaped piece to put in the middle its not just two sofas!!!

but our corner sofa actually saved us space and has made the the v tiny living room look bigger so maybe you could just buy the corner sofa?

They look quite big, but i worry, that actual sitting space for guests etc, will be reduced.

well our living room is v tiny so we could only have fitted two small sofas in there and we have more sitting space on the corner sofa than we do with two small sofas. but less than what you would have with a three piece. it prob seats about five comfortably.

are the sofa legs are directly under the arms? - is he intending to prop up the end on a pile of bricks?
