My lovely Mother’s Day orchid is shedding. What can I do to make it bloom again?

Orchids do well with a bit of neglect. Reduce watering, leave it somewhere it doesn't get a lot of direct light and a new flower stem will appear in a 9 months or so.

Neglect does seem to be the key! Had one that hadn’t flowered for years. My son managed to drop it down the stairs. Orchid was out of the pot, woody chip things everywhere. He stuffed it back in - literally- all lopsided. Has flowered regularly for six years since then. Having said that, for the past year or so I have acquired more and now treat mine with a bit more care. I water once a week and feed with a spray on the leaves and roots and they all flower brilliantly.

Soak the base of the plant for one hour a week. Preferably with water that has had banana skins sat in it for a few hours. Mine flower quite consistently. Usually a new stem is sprouting before the flowers have died.
