Accidentally boiled kettle with lid off

Was making a cup of tea for myself and had left the room then heard funny noises so came back to kitchen. Room was full of steam and lid was flapping open. Water boiled away. I opened the door to let steam out and mopped up the droplets.

It's a plastic kettle. Is it safe to use again or should I get a new one? Thanks

Perfectly safe to use again.

It just created a lot of steam, no damage done.

Yes of course it is provided its not melted or the element isn't buggered

I do this approximately once a week. I never would have thought to throw the kettle away!

You made a thread about whether it's safe to use a kettle that's been used to boil water? That's enough MN for me for one day.

Safe to use again? Its a kettle? That boiled? Without a lid?
Am i missing something?

Phew. I've checked and it's OK. Just went into a panic at the steam everywhere and worried about it burning out. But it seems fine thanks.
