Best way to remove or cover wallpaper?

We've just moved into a new house and the wallpaper in the hallway is horrid and has at least 2 layers of paint on it. I'd like to remove it and just paint the walls (subject to plastering) but the hallway is such an awkward shape, as you can imagine. Plus the ceiling has horrid wallpaper on it too.

Any ideas or tips on how to remove it in the easiest and most efficient way (steaming off will take an age and will be so awkard), or is there anyway to cover it over so it's flat and can be painted on top?

There is no easy option (unless you pay for someone else to do it) I am afraid.

You can’t just cover the wallpaper with a thin layer of plaster as it is may crack and fall off.

The best way to remove wallpaper covered in paint is to scoring the paper with a tool, and then sprayed it with warm water containing fabric conditioner. Let the water soak in and then use a steamer to help you get it off. Good Luck!
