Replacement for Miele cat & dog

I’ve had my Miele for a few years now and it’s becoming less and less effective. We have two log-haired dogs and three cats plus both dd and dd have long hair and it’s struggling to cope. I’m constantly having to unwind hair/fur from the brush and I feel like I’m spending more time on maintaining it than actually cleaning with it. Are there any vacuum cleaners out there that can definitely cope with pet (and human) hair? Preferably not a Dyson …

I always recommend the titan hoover from screwfix. It’s about £60 and there’s nothing it can’t hoover. I have a dog that sheds so twice a year we would break a hoover until we had this one. It’s lasted years and still going strong. It’s not fancy or chic but it’s the best for the job.

Following as in the same position with the same hoover!!!

I have two huge long haired dogs and a miele cats and dogs.

I got a vax had held to use as a quick cleaner but it could not cope with the fur. In fact, it ruined the floor head every couple of months (i was having to pick off so much fur after every use, but eventually would have to unscrew it and properly clean it out and then it wouldn't turn when I put it back together again) and, while it was under extended warranty, vax kept having to send me a new one. Once the warranty ran out I threw it away.

My dad died recently and I took his shark and it is proving just as useless, though I have been able to clean it out and reassemble it, unlike the vax.

But my miele is great. I do mainly use the brush, not the carpet cleaner bottom, as we mainly have tiles and wooden floor and ruggable rugs which I wash rather than vacuum. The carpet header does get clogged, but I find it easy enough to clean.

Do you change the bags and filters on the miele regularly?

Yes everything gets changed regularly - I changed everything yesterday and unclogged the brush head (again) and after doing half a rug it was just moving the hair around rather than picking it up. The suction is ok so once I take the brush head off everything gets sucked up but it’s not very efficient like that ..

I use the hard floor brush most of the time and it barely gets clogged at all. I think that all the carpet floor brushes get clogged tbh. My miele gets clogged too but the hard floor head doesn't. I have bernese mountain dogs and a LOT of fur. I have used Henry hoovers in holiday cottages and they have been fine but again it's mainly on hard floors.
