Vaping smell in carpets!

I've just moved house and there appears to be a very prominate smell coming from the ground floor. It's very sweet and artificial.
I know the previous person who lived there caped, and I'm thinking the smell from the caped is lingering in the carpets.
I've shampooed the carpet in the lounge twice with a carpet shampooing machine... but the smell is still there! Does anyone have any tips on how to remove smells from carpets?
I'd love to replace them all, but can't afford that right now and are in otherwise good condition!

Bicarbonate of soda. Sprinkle it on and leave overnight. You can also leave bowls around to absorb the smell.

Unless the vape liquid was spilled repeatedly on the carpet I don’t think it’d be an issue. Smoking stinks if doing so in the house. That would be prominent. Does it not smell upstairs? People vape in bedrooms too. It’s more than likely something else. Vape “smoke” just doesn’t stick leaving a smell like that.

It’s made of glycol so won’t damage the carpet
I vape and make my own juice
