Mass Clear Up Day Today!

Lazylou · 17/05/2008 09:15

I'm so fed up with living in a slum that I have decided to throw the books to one side for today and clean my house! Luckily it's only small but is likely to take all day. Trouble is, I don't know where to start because everything is everywhere and to clear space, I'll have to move things back into the right rooms and then clean the rooms to put it all away.

I've so far managed to clear all the surfaces in the kitchen and have sprayed them so atm they are soaking away. Washing up was done last night (huurah!) so can clean the sink area as well. I really need to do tiles in the kitchen because they are rank.

Only problem I have is 4yo DD who is insisting on bringing the contents of her bedroom into the living room thus making more mess than I initially started with.

Any tips on making it any easier? Anyone care to join in?

Hmmm. Should be tidying up myself. The washing pile is overflowing and the bedroom is a tip. Everywhere is just dusty and untidy. The kids have pulled the wallpaper off in the front room as well. I'll tidy my room I suppose......

I really need to but my head hurts and I have an 8 yr, a 3 yr old and a 15 month old all clammering for my attention at the mo
I have zero motivation

Lazylou · 17/05/2008 09:23

Same here Trinity, the motivation thing, I mean. I'm 38 weeks pg and all I really want to do is go back to bed but I will fight through it! Have just managed to get DD to take back all her crap to her own room. She is staying with my parents tonight until tomorrow evening so as long as I can get the rest of it done today, do some studying tonight, I can sort her room out tomorrow whilst she's out. I haven't told her yet that I am completely gutting her room of all the broken tat/crap that she doesn't play with anymore

Right, have cleared the floor and put some washing on. Found a pound in the dryer as well.
Lou, no wonder your tired. I was doing a degree with the ou when I had ds2, but I had to stop because I didn't have any time to do it.
Doing another one now though. Are you doing yours through the OU?

TeenyTinyTorya · 17/05/2008 10:19

Lazylou, you're brave! I was studying with the OU when I was pregnant, but had to give it up within weeks of ds' arrival.

moodlumthehoodlum · 17/05/2008 10:23

Lazylou I'm in, my house is a slum too, I just need to get off mn and do something. Charity Shop here I come.

TrinityTheProgressingRhino · 17/05/2008 10:34

I've bought washing down from upstairs

lazarou · 17/05/2008 10:36

I've hoovered the stairs and upstairs now. Having a cup of tea now to get over the shock

charliecat · 17/05/2008 10:48

going to have another coffee, pop the kids in the bath then think about starting. house is tidy, but clutter is in corners everywhere and its sticky and dirty...

Lazylou · 17/05/2008 10:49

Hurrah! Well done all of you! Well, I've managed to almost sort the kitchen: cleaned the cooker and the cupboard doors (can'tbear to do inside them yet), have scrubbed out the microwave and cleaned 90% of the tiles. I have even dusted the cobwebs (told you it was bad ). Have also just done and hung up a load of washing to dry.

Just having a quick cup of tea before I finish it off.

DD has managed to confine her rubbish to her room which is making it easier in here (kitchen and front room - open plan . Need to clean the sink...

The bathroom is next on my hit list because I hate doing it so much, so I'm doing horrid jobs first so that they're done.

Suppose it's nesting instinct kicking in albeit a little late in the game lol.

As for the studying, I'm at Roehampton uni and have only my dissertation and an exam to do until the end. I AM graduating in July, so I need to get it finished. The exam is 3 days after my due date though so I'm having to work double hard to make sure I can do all these things! It is hard work but it will all be over in 3 weeks. Could do with DS arriving a bit late tbh, but then I'm fed up now and want him out! I reckon even if I do have him in the next week, I'll still get all my work done (LL ever the optimist). I'm thinking the exercise from house cleaning will move him on.

Well done to all of you. I'm heading off again but will check in again soon!

Ooooh, one other VERY IMPORTANT job I need to get done today is to pack my hospital bag. Have put it off for so long, should've been done by now
