Tell me what to buy/do.
I have a few nice white cotton shirts, worn only once on holidays and they now have very slight yellow stains from sunblock or sweat or both. Have been washed twice. I use Fairy gel and I used vanish powder in the drawer the second time. Washed at 40 and air dried. Didn't work. I have problems keeping whites sparkling in general, so please send solutions!

You need powder.

Persil or Ariel. Fairy probably do a white powder also

Vanish bar and rub like billy o

Persil non-bio powder and then line dry on a sunny day so that the sun can work its magic and bleach out the stains for you. Gel is rubbish imo, and clogs up your washing machine over time.

OP yes you need powder, liquid and gel just do not cut it,

I miss green Fairy soap for times like these,
for collars, cuffs, bottoms of white socks, ate the dirt

Vanish bar is far more effective than the powder or sprays

Wash as usual and then line dry in bright sunlight- it works wonders.

This week I soaked a linen shirt in a bucket containing vanish powder overnight and it removed some pretty stubborn stains which the stain removal bottle didn’t touch.

Wash only whites together
I use white bath towels/hand towels so they go in a hot wash with DD white socks , powder ( bio) and some Astonish powder

Just ordered a bar of ElbowGrease soap for DD white tops as they won't tolerate a hot wash ,so I'll see how this compares to pre-wash spray
