Little black worms in the shower. Have tried bleach, drain deblocker, Google. And the fuckers keep coming back. Very clean house with several bathrooms and only one affected. Do I need to burn the place down ?

Anyone else had this?

Are you sure they’re not baby slugs?

sorry if that’s freaked you out further

cheedle · 22/04/2025 15:33

Definitely not - minuscule and not slug-like

Silverfish?

Pillarsofsalt · 22/04/2025 15:33

Boiling water down the plug hole.

Boiling water down the plug hole.

That’s what google suggests but worried it’ll melt the pipes

Are you sure they’re not coming from your shower head? My MIL lived in a really old house and when DH went to change the shower / shower head, loads of bugs like these fell out 🤮

Cheesesteakyum · 22/04/2025 15:36

I’d say they’re larvae of some sort, there must be residue organic matter in the drain, perhaps some drain cleaner and then good rinse through with hot water.

Now I need to burn all my shower heads 😱

Freyer · 22/04/2025 15:41

@minipie I felt like I needed to wash in bleach after I saw them as that was the “guest” shower we always used 🙈🤮😭

Whynotaxthisyear · 22/04/2025 15:43

Baby slugs are tiny. They used to come into our kitchen and eat the cat's food. Yuk.
But could yours be the larvae of drain flies?

I’d say so too but have tried everything but a flamethrower

Boiling water won't melt the pipes. If it did then every kitchen in the country would be flooded.

mathanxiety · 22/04/2025 15:53

@cheedle

No, you won't melt the pipes. Pipes are sturdy.

sciaticafanatica · 22/04/2025 16:00

Drain fly … boiling water and bleach down every drain, including toilet

Obviously your call, I used to worry about this too then realised I've been draining pasta down the sink for decades.
