How to dry laundry flat

I have recently invested in some decent knitwear and I have no idea how to properly ‘dry flat’. I’m willing to invest in something to help me but I’m a bit overwhelmed on Amazon!

Before I would just chuck over the banister and hope for the best, but this is heavy weight cotton and I don’t want to pull it out of shape when wet. The last time I tried to dry flat the kids got toothpaste on my neatly drying cardigan… ffs. I don’t have an airer, I normally tumble dry or line dry.

I was eyeing up one of those drying racks but storage would be a pain. I don’t mind if they really do the job though. I just don’t want to spend loads on beautiful knitwear to ruin it in the washing process.

Lay it across the airer / line on a towel.

Lie it on the carpet/towel in front of a radiator overnight in a room the kids don't go in much
