Bottisham vs Balsham

Hello,

sorry I couldn’t find an appropriate category. We’re looking at moving to outskirts of Cambridge/ Newmarket is also an option. We’ve seen a house in both Bottisham and Balsham. Both same price, both needing some work. The locations both work well for us in terms of commuting to work and families. We’re just not sure which is best…. We will have 2 children 21 months apart (2 under 2!) from end of may. We don’t mind going in the car out to places but enjoy just going out in the buggy for a country-ish walk.

Although I know both areas a little bit I’ve never spent an enormous time in either and not bought a child up in either. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on life with children in either of them?

it’s likely this next home will be where we stay for 20+ years

TIA!

I’d say that Bottisham is just that bit closer to Cambridge and not that far from Newmarket. It feels more connected where Balsham feels like it’s further out and that bit more rural.

Thinking ahead - the kids will probably end up at Bottisham Village College so it’s worth factoring in that they’ll be travelling on the bus every day if you go with Balsham.

That’s my two penneth!

There’s a Property topic you could post this in where you’d probably get more replies.

What did you decide? We’re also looking at these areas?
