PLEASE HELP - oil spilt on new carpet

DD has managed to open our tin of 3 in 1 oil and spill it on our lovely brand new carpet. I'm so depressed I can't even think straight about how best to get it off.
Please help!!

How about using brown paper, blotting paper etc to soak as much up as you can?

trouble is, it's all soaked in to the carpet , leaving oil stains

What kind of oil is it? Engine, food, etc?

What about washing up liquid, or shampoo or anything that claims to cut through grease, then keep blotting with towel or something (try the things that don't stain, first!

First, using an iron, blot up as much as possible. Treat with Stain remover such as Mykal De-Solv-It or carpet devils no 1 followed by shampooing.

Thanks for all the tips. Feel better that there is hope for carpet.
Unfortunately, am settling dd at moment (MNetting outside her room where she can see me as she drifts off to sleep), so can't tackle the stains until she's down.
