Miele freaks: Anyone have the Powerbrush / Electrobrush head ? Is it the quickest way to Nirvana ? Does it make life utopic ?

I need input from Miele nerds...

Normal Miele 'turbo' cleaning heads have spinning rollers with brushes but these are driven by the suction from the motor / through the tube. Miele make two 'Powerbrushes' (also called Electrobrushes - like this), which have the same spinning brush thingy but it's driven / boosted by a dedicated motor in the head.

Anyone got one of these Electrobrush thingies ?

Do you think it's any better than a regular head / turbo head ?

Is the additional noise from the motor 'up front' unpleasant ?

Will this be the most boring thread on MN this week ?

Are you, by chance , male ?

BabiesEverywhere · 15/05/2008 15:45

LOL, I have my Miele out so I checked it's head and then fetched the other ones from the kitchen. We have a standard turbo, a Cat & Dog and a small stair head, nothing like the second link.

noddyholder · 15/05/2008 15:48

i want that i have all the others but that is the king of the hoover brushes This is NOT boring

Cadmum · 15/05/2008 15:51

Wow... I want one!

hub2dee · 15/05/2008 15:58

Yes, I am, George. Old timer, been away a while.

BE / NH - Hope your lives will not be destroyed by the lack of POWERBRUSH.

Come on, someone must actually OWN one.

Morningpaper - you just got a Miele, right, I don't suppose you got an ELECTROBRUSH to go with your POWERDRILL ?

I daren't show this to dh. We have a miele and he'll want one if he knows about the extra motor in the brush head.

JackieNo · 15/05/2008 16:02

Haven't seen you for ages, hub. Nice to see you back, or are you just popping in for advice on vacuum cleaners?

hub2dee · 15/05/2008 16:14

but george, some Mieles CAN'T TAKE THEM.

They require an electrical connection to the machine / wand.

The truly desparate CAN buy a battery powered head with a rechargeable battery you plug in, but IMO that's a bit OTT.

Hi Jackie, yeah... just a quick drift in / drift out. I am going through the Miele brochure and there is only one place in the world I could ask 50,000 people if the Miele Powerbrush head is great or crap, and that's MN lol. Actually, I am about to launch a child / maternity / family on-location photography business, so will probably post again about that, soon.

One fella says it rocks: Happy chappy

One fella says the powerbrush sucks: It sucks

(Ignore the specific model... I'm just focusing on the powerbrush bit. Interestingly, this is one thing the Americans pay more than us for, and enjoy lower wattage motors too !)

Careful and detailed exploration of their brochure reveals the powerbrush (indeed turbobrush or any other head where there are spinning carpet beaters with sticky out hairs whizzing round) are NOT the recommended solution for loop pile carpets.

We've got loop pile rather than velour / twisted cut pile, so there you go... a suction only head (Miele's standard / cheapest one) is best apparently.

I didn't think anyone was as obsessed with miele vacuum cleaners as my DH. I can see he's met his match. Will not be mentioning this new attachment to him or we'll spend all weekend looking for one

hub2dee · 16/05/2008 14:02

lol.

I don't actually have a Miele vacuum cleaner- have hitherto been a Dyson man. But dw is complaining, and the hose is on the way out (again), and the wand doesn't slide into its sheath properly etc. so I was thinking of going the way of the dark side and defecting to Miele...

Tell you dh to plan a family visit to the Miele Experience Centre in Oxford. I haven't been there but I bet it beats Alton Towers.
