I need all your recommendations for products, processes , cloth types , scrub then wipe then polish , then buff?
It never ever looks completely perfect.

Squeegee after every shower

FrannyScraps · 08/03/2025 15:27

I use method daily shower cleaner and a microfiber cloth.

MagpiePi · 08/03/2025 15:27

Definitely get a squeegee.

Ariela · 08/03/2025 15:28

Get a water softener. Saves you doing the clean/wipe/polish/buff cycle.

I have been a housekeeper for holiday lets so have cleaned thousands of these. This is what I did;

Wait until the shower is dry
Spray the glass liberally with Viakal (nothing else works as well)
Give it a good scrub
Squizee it off
Dry any parts (edges) with a microfiber.
Spray with glass cleaner and buff up using a cotton tea towel.

It's long and confuluted but, after trial and error, this is the only thing that brings them up beautifully.

Don't be tempted to use water.

So you need:

Microfiber cloths
Viakal
Spray window cleaner. Preferably Evans but I know that's trade and
Dry cotton tea towel.

I too was going to say a water softener. Game changer!

I spent so much over the years on vinegar and viakal, plus the time to scrub and clean. No more since the softener though.

Once you have it clean and dry, go over with washing up liquid. It'll look a mess but don't panic.
Next shower, it'll be gleaming, and stay that way.
Top tip I got off Mumsnet.

After daily showering, I spray it with Neat Daily Shower Clean and then 5 mins later, I squeegee it off (with an Oxo squeegee). Job done!

Then every 2 weeks, my cleaner sprays it with Bower Collective Limescale Remover (MUCH more effective than Viakal, and all natural too) and wipes it off with a microfibre cloth. Although it doesn’t really need this as the Neat spray after every shower keeps it looking sparkling but she Bower Collective’s the entire bathroom as the hard water in London is nasty.

@SerenaSemolena what do you mean by go over with washing up liquid ? Neat. Diluted in a spray? Intrigued.
Also interested in the lack of water in the Viakal method. I'm laid up with sciatica for now but the need to clean is bugging me.

I just put some on a sponge and rubbed over all the glass screen.
It stops it steaming up and stops streaks and limescale
