Food processors

(I honestly can’t believe how boring I have become to start a thread like this, but speak to me my fellow kitchen gadget geeks).

My food processor is dying - had it about 15 years, used once a week on average (but once it’s out I tend to use it a bit), the motor smells, the bowl is cracked and rhe handle is threatening to disconnect. It’s a kenwood model, wouldn’t have been very expensive and came with many bits I’ve hardly ever used. It had a blender bit on it but I have a stand-alone blender I prefer to use.

What I use 99% of the time is the normal blade (for pastry etc) and the slicing/grating blade - particularly for bulk cooking but also coleslaws, salads etc.

I definitely want a replacement (have a blender and also a Kmix, yes, all the gadgets). I have John Lewis vouchers saved only many years for a rainy day so could splurge on a magimix but is it any better than the £80-100 kenwood type models I could get?

Years ago I had a FP with lots of attachments, like you never used them. 15 years ago I bought a magi mix - love it. Sits in the corner of the counter and I just slide it forwards to use, which means I use it

They are a work horse, they do what they do extremely well

Love my Magimix. Last one lasted over twenty years - it's actually still working, but I donated it to someone who wanted one, and I replaced it with a new one from Magimix spares online.

I have the magimix XL and it’s great. Still need to get rid of it after only using it about six times as I don’t have space for it. Takes up far too much room! It feels like it would last forever but I’d have to keep in the attic.

I am also Team Magimix. Mine is nearly 20 years old and still works perfectly. If it died I would replace it tomorrow.

Can’t say the same for my Kitchenaid which looks lovely but not used half as much as the Magimix.

I haven’t ever tried another FP but I love my magimix and use it several times a week. All the bowls are BPA free but go in the dishwasher on the bottom rack and the blades are serated so they go in too.

excellent for coleslaw, mayonnaise, bread making, all in one cakes, pastry, slicing, grating cheese (I buy a huge block of parmesan, grate and freeze) and I use the citrus press in summer.

I also keep on my worktop as it’s heavy to move.

edit for typo

Also team magimix. Previous Kenwood lasted all of 4 years... Magimix is in a whole other league.

Bonbon21 · 15/03/2025 20:34

I FINALLY bought a Magimix, having lusted for years, but as I had an ancient Braun I couldn't justify the expense until said Braun died...
AND IT FINALLY DID!!!
YEY!!!
My Magimix sits pride of place in the kitchen and I am using it almost every day...love love love it...

Another vote for Magimix. They are brilliant .

Sourisblanche · 15/03/2025 20:40

Magimix here. Use it every other day. Love it!

We have both kenwood and magimix food processors (latter in our second home) and a Kenwood mixer also. Use my mixer the most but magimix does the same job.
