Foolproof housework system?

I’ve just cancelled my cleaners as I need to make some savings. Can anyone recommend a good, foolproof system for keeping on top of everything? I live in a large, old farmhouse with two of my adult children (my husband died very suddenly a little while ago). We have two dogs, three cats, eight ducks and six horses (obviously only the dogs and cats come into the house). I work four days a week, my dd is out a lot for work and my ds is not well. I can’t get on with things like fly lady - it makes my skin crawl, not entirely sure why - but I think a system of sorts would help - any ideas please?

Have a look at Team Tomm and especially the guided cleans. There is a free trial. The subscription works out a lot cheaper than a cleaner.

If you are sharing some of the jobs between you, you could try an app we use called Tody - you lost all of the housework jobs (then have a cry!) and you can assign them to certain people, on rotation, which days of the week you’ll do them / how often they need to be done. Takes a bit of time setting up but the app produces a ‘to do’ list that’s actually quite helpful. Helps me see how much each person is doing as well, which has reduced arguments in this house!
it’s not free though, which is a bit of a bummer.

Can you just set aside a couple of hours a week and work your way through the same list as your cleaners?
