Smelly Mattress

We have a mattress that has been in storage for 8 months whilst we were waiting on our house being built. We've moved, it's here and it has a horrible musty smell. Does anyone have any tips on how to get rid of the smell or is it gubbed?

Bicarbonate of soda absorbs smells. Sprinkle a few drops some nice essential oil in a few tubs of bicarb and skew to mix, then sprinkle liberally over the mattress and cover /wrap in opened up bin bags so it absorbs the mattress smell rather than what’s in the atmosphere. Leave it as long as you can-days if possible-before hoovering it off.
Worth a shot.

I was going to say bicarb too however if it smells musty I'm not sure I'd still want the mattress but then I have Asthma and any mould spies would make it a bit difficult for me.
