How the hell do I get this off my wall?

Our bathroom has wet wall.
I got these stuck on shelves for bottles etc like 2 years ago maybe, they’ve been on ever since. The shelves are awful and just gather water and go horrible.
But holy hell, can I get these shelves off?!
Ive tried pouring boiling water down behind them, tried wiggling a Stanley knife between the sticky part and the wall (much to my partners horror), going to get a wallpaper scraper from my mum tomorrow and try that.

Does anyone have any really simple ideas I’ve not thought of? They are so thick and hard you can’t even get your nail behind it and get an edge or anything they’re driving me crazy.

Hairdryer to heat them

Sticky stuff remover might work? You can get it on Amazon or from Lakeland.
Otherwise try heating with a hairdryer to loosen the adhesive before peeling off.

Baby oil?

Furball · 27/02/2025 20:42

White spirit is usually good for dissolving glue/sticky stuff.

SerenaSemolena · 27/02/2025 20:49

I expect WD40 will lift it.

Perfect thank you all, I have white spirit and wd40 so will get at it tomorrow, windows open 🤣

If they are suction cup ones get a large sharp needle and make a hole carefullyto release the suction.
If it's sticky use Zoff round the edges and work under gradually

Typical...if you loved them the buggers would have fallen off the wall ages ago!

I used to use goo- gone. I think it's an American product but I am sure now you can get it online. This actually removed anything !
