Irregular but necessary tasks - what's on your list?

We have cleaners who do an excellent job but they do do exactly the same thing each week and every now and again I have a moment when I realise that a particular task hasn't been done for a while when needs to be done. Today was one of those days. What started as wiping one grubby looking light switch turned into doing all of the light switches, door and cupboard handles and then cleaning all of the appliances, filters and everything. What else falls into this sort of category? I do the skirting boards & cornices quite frequently. I have put dusting lampshades and wiping down the slatted doors on my list.

Well I was going to suggest cleaning fridge / oven / windows….. but it doesn’t quite compare to the reply above!

I do handles and switches as part of the normal clean of that room. Things I do once a month or every other month are:

Sort though cupboards and wipe out.
Deep clean fridge and sort freezer.
Feather dust the ceilings.
Wipe inside of windows.
Wash curtains ( every 6 months or so)
Hoover mattress (every quarter)
Hoover under sofa, beds etc.
Sort clothes/ toys for charity.
Put drain cleaner down the drains

There's probs more but that's all I can think of right now

Clean the filters in the dishwasher, the vaccum cleaner, and the washing machine weekly. Otherwise things get a bit pongy.

My cleaner loves it when I give them these types of tasks. I ask them to do one of these every now and again and forego some of the standard stuff if they don't have time.

@roselilylavender mine is to take down all my light bulbs in my kitchen as they get really greasy and then flies stick to the grease 🤮

Taking out the condenser on the tumble dryer and cleaning it, and the space it came out of. Dusting the lampshades. The inside of the kitchen cabinets, and the tops of them. Wiping out the bottoms of all the wardrobes.

Hoover under the beds and sofas
Hoover under the sofa cushions
Clean behind and under the cooker, microwave and fridge
Wash the curtains (mine are desperate, can't wait for spring)
Tidy out the bathroom cupboards, mine get dusty inside somehow
Dust behind the TV (wall mounted)

I love sorting a really yucky satisfying corner once in a while!
