Our boiler decides by itself when to pack it in. Always does it just when the weather gets warm...lucky us.
Boiler man just had to clean out the jets as by the end of winter they always get totally cloged up due to the "dirty" bottled gas we have to use as we are out in the sticks.

We don't have any choice. We have an log burner/ stove thing in the living room (inglenook) - can't get fuel or logs for it for love nor money after mid-April every year, and as we have absolutely nowhere to stre any (nor money to stock up anyway) we freeze from then until about November.

FruitfulOfFruit · 08/05/2008 17:27

Isn't that what the thermostat is for? If the house is warm enough, the heating doesn't come on. Or am I missing something?

LilRedWG · 08/05/2008 17:28

Ours is still on but hasn't kicked in for a few days. I always figure that's what the thermostat is for.

I am quite supersticious (sp?) about the fact that if we have nice weather before the end of May and I switch the heating off then I'll curse it and it'll be damned cold and wet the next day.

prettymum · 08/05/2008 17:28

got the council to come switch the heating off today! the pipes are constantly hot and our flat was like a sauna! would have had it switched off earlier but the heating engineer didnt turn up!

Joash, we have a log burner as well and when we can't get logs, we all go down to the beach and collect wood from there and also look through skips for bits of odd wood.
There's always loads of free wood around, we have never "bought" any logs.
