Are expensive washing machines really worth it?

Does anyone know if a £1000 washing machine is any better than a £300 one?

Looking at Miele ones and wondering how much better a washing machine can actually be?

Aside from energy and water uses - would like to hear any other benefits!

I have an expensive Bosch washer-dryer and miss it every time I use my ex's cheapest Indesit.

At the same speed of spin, I could still hand-wring water out of Indesit load but after Bosch the clothes are half-way towards dry already.

The whites come out whiter with Bosch.

I also hate that the Indesit has all the short cycles as a cold 20-30C wash whilst I have a 20min at 40C option on Bosch - I don't like the idea of washing pants on a quick AND cold wash.

And I'm never not having a dryer again.

I'd buy my Bosch all over again, definitely.

We have a newer Miele. There's nothing wrong with it but <shallow> I only paid the premium to have the door hinge on the right side. I don't believe other people's experiences with older, 10 year guaranteed Mieles are a good reason to pay a lot more for a 2 year guaranteed one now, when some competitors are offering machines 3 or 5 year guarantees for a lot less money. Maybe in 10 years it will prove a good decision, we just don't know yet.

Mid range is good. I had a Samsung eco bubble for 11 or 12 years. I have the updated version (it’s maybe 3 years old now). Replaced it as I was doing the kitchen and it had a few niggles but technically still working. I have 3 kids, now teens, and sadly due to the number of sports, school and work clothes (2 work part time) they go through I still do around 8 loads of washing a week. Despite it being the largest drum size I could get. It works well and I really like it.

I have a beko dishwasher and I hate it. Unfortunately I couldn’t afford a better one at the time.
