Going to a party tonight. What is brilliant, that you use all the time? What did you buy then never use?

use the measuring spoons, bamboo 'wooden' spoons and the spatula

Never use the v expensive chopper thing - total waste of time and money

SniffyHock · 06/05/2008 18:38

Someone has already warned me about the chopper!!!

Oooh the stone bakeware. I love it!

babster · 06/05/2008 18:53

I like the batter bowl - saves me from slopping pancake mix everywhere! Also good for making cakes/whipping cream as it has a handle to hold it firm.

That chopper really is pants. And you can make your own suds pump by buying any foaming handwash and refilling it with a mix of soap and water.

expatinscotland · 06/05/2008 18:54

my sister gave me the batter bowl and the pizza stone about 8 years ago and they're both still going strong.

pepperrabbit · 06/05/2008 19:01

We use the stoneware all the time - from roasts to fish fingers!, got a spatula/spoon set a good 12 years ago and they're still going strong. I try to resist the more gimmicky things - ice cream sandwich maker etc....
Have fun

keeptakingthetablets · 06/05/2008 19:11

Definitely the spatula/spoon thing, and the little glass bowls with lids have been surprisingly handy - although I always end up leaving one full of egg mayonnaise at the back of the fridge.....

The kitchen scissors are great but Do Not Buy The Ponceworthy Piping/Icing Bottles - you need a piping bag to fill them. Grrr.

Twiglett · 06/05/2008 19:16

Mix and Scraper is the most useful thing I own .. I cannot believe I can wax lyrical over a feckin' spatula .. but it's amazing at getting all the mixture out, and at stirring and heat and dishwasher proof .. well worth it

I shudder at the thought of a pampered chef party...am I a fool?

Twiglett · 06/05/2008 19:21

no

but sometimes you have to go because a friend gets talked into hosting one .. and you have to buy something so you scour the list for the cheapest thing .. which turns out to be a spatula for £12 .. which then turns out to be ingenious

nailpolish · 06/05/2008 19:22

i had a pampered chef party once. it got so out of hand the police were called twice

too much wine and sun methinks. i had just moved into a new area and i was trying to impress my new neighbours! didnt quite work out...

anwya, i recommend the chldren stuff

lke the children chopping knife and cut out thingys

also the measuring jug with the lid

ButterflyBessie · 06/05/2008 19:23

Please expand np on why the police were called twice?

SniffyHock · 06/05/2008 19:23

Stoneware and spatula it is then!!

nailpolish · 06/05/2008 19:25

we were vey rowdy and it was a warm evening. we had the music blaring and we were dancing round the garden. there were 12 women there and i recall clearing up 26 empty wine bottles the next day so we were very drunk

well i say rowdy but in a ncie girly way. obv one or 2 neighbours who i hadnt invitied were not too happy!

SniffyHock · 06/05/2008 19:25

I was bought this though as a gift and I love it!!

OP posts:
nailpolish · 06/05/2008 19:25

I use my stoneware every day. I bought the childrens safety knifes as dd1 loves to help me cook.

Triggles · 06/05/2008 20:00

I love the stoneware, the chopper, the oil pump, and the bamboo spoons. The stuff is expensive, but certainly lasts and seems good quality. I try not to go to any parties, though, as I am weak when it comes to kitchen utensils!

blossomsmine · 06/05/2008 22:24

I love love love my chopper
I bought that ice cream scoop which is supposed to go warm in your hand and make it easier to use......mine doesn't seem to go warm
I didn't fancy a pampered chef party and had been asked to go to loads and turned them all down, then i relented and it was brilliant! So much fun and our pampered chef person was a gay guy who was just so lovely and made us all want to buy everything!

SniffyHock · 07/05/2008 09:56

It was actually good fun but I spent a fortune
