What is a reasonable amount to pay cleaners.

Hi,
I work and have cleaners fortnightly to clean a 4 bedroom house, I clean the myself but they help to keep on top of things. There are two cleaners who used to spend 1.5 hours cleaning the house for £55. Gradually they seem to be staying for only an hour and I still pay £55. They do walk in and get straight on with it, and I do like having the house all clean, but I am wondering if I am paying too much. Recently both my older children have moved out so the house is easier to look after, so I wondering whether to do it myself....keep the current cleaners or change if I am paying too much. I do like and trust the cleaners I have but don't want to pay over the top.

£18 an hour (for 1.5hx2) is probably fairly normal.

Just ask why they are leaving early!

I was always told that they price the house and do not give an hourly rate, as people were adding on too many jobs within a certain time frame. So my house was priced at £55 regardless of how long it takes.
