Musty cupboard

Has anyone any remedies for a very musty cupboard. It’s a large build in cupboard and I can smell it through the house. I’ve tried deodoriser, cat litter, coffee, baking soda and vinegar, a fan going 24/7, dehumidifier (cheap and more expensive). It’s so annoying! Can’t leave the cupboard door open from where it’s placed

We had this - couple of coats of emulsion helped a lot, if that's an option?

I had a very smelly kitchen cupboard when I first moved in.

I thought it just needed a good clean. However when I looked properly I could see that the back of the cupboard had come away due to damp and there was mould and damp. It’s on an outside wall.

Ive put scented candles in, a couple of cheap plastic humidifiers in and it didn’t help.

However I put in something called PX17 an odour counteractant and I can’t smell it so much, but maybe I’ve gone nose blind.

The PX17 is something I was given when I previously had pest control in -it’s to help mask the smell of dead mice.

Im in a rental so I’m waiting for the landlord to come round.

My solution for smelly cupboards is to wipe over with neat white vinegar and shove a couple of half onions inside for a day or so.

But it sounds like you tried a lot already, maybe it needs drastic action! Is the cupboard on an external wall? If so you might have a ventilation problem and it's damp and mouldy behind. It might be best to dismantle the cupboard an not put furniture up against that wall
