How happy are you with your DFS or OakFurnitureLand sofa?

Hi there, any experience would be much apreciated.

I bought the OakFurnitureLand sofa a couple of days ago ( I am still within 7 days period so I could cancel the order).

I chose it over almost identical DFS sofa as it looked better quality from photos and description.

Then I saw the post where the person had bought the sofas from both companies and the DFS sofa was still going strong whislt the OakFurnitureLand sofa turned out to be bad quality after 6 months.

I had a look at the Trust Pilot reviews. It looks like most reviews are in relation to the customer service at the point of sale.

If you happen to own a DFS or OakFurnitureLand sofa for 2 years or more, will you please share how happy are you with the purchase?

Many thanks in advance.

I've had our DFS sofa for 2.5 years and aside from a few marks (entirely my fault) it still looks great.

haplessharpy · 07/01/2025 07:09

Last sofa was DFS and lasted 10 years or so. It was still sturdy and comfy when I got rid of it, but four kids had marked the leather and I wanted a change,
Currently have another DFS sofa that is actually second hand. It's beautiful and comfy and well made. This will be its 8th year of service apparently.
Can't share any experience of OFL, sorry.

My Dfs sofa is about 5 years old and still looks great. We’re looking for a new larger one for our new house so will be going back there.

Im sure there was a Dfs sofa thread last week

Puppylucky · 07/01/2025 07:25

I would have thought they are the identical sofa to be honest. Oak Furniture Land don't make their own upholstered furniture so are probably using the same supplier as DFS

BananaNirvana · 07/01/2025 07:27

Had 3 DFS sofas in the last 30 years - they’re brilliant! Our current one is 6 years old and still in excellent condition 😊

AMurderofMurderingCrows · 07/01/2025 07:28

I also had a dfs sofa that lasted 10 years. I'd definitely get another sofa from there.

kitchenhelprequired · 07/01/2025 07:40

DFS sofa is 8.5 years old and still looks good.

DreamW3aver · 07/01/2025 07:48

Did you buy a sofa without actually going to the shop and sitting on it? If so for that reason alone I'd cancel the order

It sounds from your post that OFL only sell one sofa, I'd strongly recommend that you go to a large shops that has a full range to try them out, dont restrict yourself to one choice only

rollon2025 · 07/01/2025 07:52

Our DFS sofas are 20 years old. Leather. Worn well. Needing a bit of sewing and some of the stuffing blued up about six years ago. But otherwise think we might have a few more years left of it

Monsterstogo · 07/01/2025 07:53

Not a sofa but I have an Oak Furniture Land bed frame and it is 15 years old and I doubt will ever need replacing.

I think it still looks high quality and smart.

GuffyTheDustBuster · 07/01/2025 08:03

Went back to DFS (after expensive mistake with posh firm). Coming up to 5 years - DFS one still looks fab.

KittenPause · 07/01/2025 08:08

My DFS sofa has lasted about 14 years

KittenPause · 07/01/2025 08:09

It's leather and the leather still looks fine

JPC123 · 07/01/2025 08:31

I have oak furniture land sofas. I bought them nearly 4 years ago. Both frames have had to be completely rebuilt (I fortunately took out their insurance).

The disclaimer here is that DS has asd and like the run into and bounce off of the sofas so they’ve had a lot of wear.

Retirednearthesea · 07/01/2025 08:34

DFS came out very quickly when we needed a spring replaced under their 10 year guarantee… sofa snd recliners both doing great … not used oak furniture before …

HereForTheFreeLunch · 07/01/2025 08:35

DFS sofa is around 6 years, still very good.
I don't have sofas from oakfurnitureland - I have their beds which are still very good after quite a few years.

Headingtowardsdivorce · 07/01/2025 08:37

I have a DFS leather sofa which must be about 16 years old now. The leather is faded (from the sun, it's in direct sunlight) and marked (from kids and dogs) but the frame is still solid.

MozartsMeatballs · 07/01/2025 08:52

@Headingtowardsdivorce Same. We bought our leather DFS sofa in 2003. It's survived children jumping on it, spilling food/drink all over it and outlasted by marriage by over a decade 😂.

Headingtowardsdivorce · 07/01/2025 11:20

@MozartsMeatballs I was laughing at your comment and then I realised that all of my/our furniture has outlasted the marriage 🤣

I might redecorate this year!

Peclet · 07/01/2025 11:24

17 year old DFS sofa here, still going strong. Obvious sighs of wear on arms etc, but it is the scruffy/dog sofa in the kitchen.Still very comfortable and has held its shape.

HolyMoly24 · 07/01/2025 19:01

Previously had an OFL sofa and it lasted 11 years. Granted by the end it did look pretty rough, but was in great nic for years before that. We have bought another sofa from OFL last year and so far so good.

Come to think of it we've bought quite a lot of furniture from there in the past and it has all been great quality.

Turnoffthelight · 07/01/2025 19:04

We have a OFL sofa and I love it.
Must be about 8 years old and still looks good and is so comfy.

FirstFallopians · 07/01/2025 19:12

We have three fabric DFS sofas, bought 4 years ago- one fake chesterfield, a loveseat and a 3 seater. They’re all pale fabrics and despite having two filthy young children, I’ve been able to keep them in pretty good nick between spot cleaning and getting them professionally cleaned once.

The frames are fine, except when they were delivered the delivery man screwed on the leg on the loveseat wonky and DH just didn’t say anything 🙄. It’s been on the piss ever since, but it’s still sound.

nothouseproud · 07/01/2025 19:14

Two years ago I had to furnish an entire house on a set budget, so went to both OFL and DFS. Chose a DFS sofa but OFL beds (I didn't like their sofas). Both were good buys.

Ididntsaybanana · 07/01/2025 19:14

We've had our dfs sofa just over 3 years and it's still great. I'll definately look there again when we need to.
