Where to store fruit to avoid tempting mice?

We have just discovered we have mice (eek) and are doing everything we need to short term to resolve this, but I’m thinking about the longer term things we should do to prevent them coming back.

We’re good at keeping all food in glass jars etc but I’m not really sure what we should be doing with fruit - there doesn’t seem to be a good solution but hopefully I’ve missing it and you can enlighten me :)

Like most people (I think?!) we have a fruit bowl but surely this is just tempting the mice? We’re keeping it in the fridge at the moment, but not super keen on the taste of cold banana/apples etc - do I just need to get over this? Thanks in advance!

Could you use a lidded tub in a cupboard?

This would work for me/ the mice problem! I thought (in a subconscious, not necessarily logical way) that fruit needed air and might go a bit funny in airtight container but if not then that’s great…
