Shark vs Henry

Need a new vacuum. Have a heavy shedding dog so pet-centric vacuum a must.

Currently have a corded shark but it’s given up on me after five faithful years. Looking online Henry Quick seems popular? Would people recommend? I’ve heard Henry’s in general are reliable, but cumbersome…. Happy to hear other brand recommendations?

I’ve got both, I don’t use the Henry, only for diy clean up really. Really cumbersome to use and easy to mark skirting boards with it.

Henry is powerful and good for tall people as the handle is really long. It's very heavy and cumbersome though.

Henry is cumbersome, difficult to store because of its shape, but it’s really effective and cheap!

Shark. Henry is cumbersome and will wreck your back. Nothing really gets dog hair up like you’d like it though so don’t get your hopes up. 😂Speaking from experience with 2 spaniels and several brands of hoover over the years. I get a new hoover every year.

I have a heavy shedding spaniel and two cats. I have a Miele c3 cat and dog for the weekly clean and stairs. But the change maker is a roomba j7 programmed to cover the whole ground floor 3 mornings per week. It self empties and send me photos of any obstacles (usually the dog!) It really makes a difference.

I love my Henry.

We went from a Henry to a shark then back to a Henry. The shark was awful - barely any suction and didn't pick anything up. Henry is a pita lugging around but far superior imo.

JetskiSkyJumper · 03/01/2025 13:45

I've just bought a Miele c3 pet after our second shark broke after less than a couple of years. The Miele suction is far better.

CleanHouseGoals · 03/01/2025 13:51

Another vote for Miele cat and dog. However, I read the pro tip is to use 'rug mode' on carpet - for superior suction AND agitation....

I wouldn't buy a Shark. They seem to be deliberately making them difficult to repair. See the Youtube video: Why Can't You Repair Your Shark Vacuum?
Also, search on eSpares for how few spare parts they make available.

I recently bought a new Hoover. Not the reason I bought it, but I was impressed that they now use no plastic in the packaging.

I'd love a cordless but don't trust any of them as they all seem to cost a fortune and break down after a couple of years.

I have a Henry. I have a new Henry which is smaller and lighter with a reusable inner bag. It's very powerful.

Henry do a cordless which I'm very tempted by if it's as good as the corded.

My Henry is still going strong after twenty years. They are so reliable and it does everything asked of it. Wouldn't consider anything else
