Linens in bathroom cupboard

Hiya’ I hope everyone is doing well?

I’ve been asked to look after my friends cat for 4 weeks. I’m happy to do this as I had a recent breakup and I won’t be with my ex or step daughter this year.

thr house is nice and peaceful and I’m mostly happy apart from they keep bedding and towels in a cupboard opposite the toilet. The boiler is also in there. I’m not used to this setup and my ocd is really triggered as I feel like the linens won’t be clean in that environment especially so near to a toilet and the after smells (sorry). The lovely cat also sleeps on an empty shelf in there too and I think they touch the towels.

does anyone else have this setup please?

as it’s unfamiliar to me’ I’m hoping people may be able to understand where I’m coming from and why I would be worried even if it’s pointless

thank you so much

We keep all our towels in a cupboard in the bathroom. I don't think that's unusual? Not bedding though. That's on the top shelf in the wardrobe.

If it bothers you take out what you will use whilst cat sitting. Launder and keep in the bedroom.

I'd say that's a common set up but as @Hobbesmanc has said do what makes you feel comfortable. Give them a wash and store them in the wardrobe. Pet owners don't mind their pet's fur on bedding but it's fine for you not to like it.

i would know that as an airing cupboard - perfectly normal, although not always in the bathroom.
I am personally not crazy about the cat potentially napping on my clean linen, so agree with the suggestion to keep the linens you will use, away from the cat.

A lot of airing cupboards are nibbled out of bathrooms. Ours happens to open onto our landing but if it opened into the bathroom I think we'd still keep our towels in it.

But then I also keep my toothbrush and the towel I'm using in the bathroom. I think is pretty typical but I expect your standards are quite different to mine.

Would you be ok to just keep the linen you are using in another room, shut away from the cat, or does it trouble you just knowing that their things are there?
