Boiling water?

Doggymummar · 13/12/2024 10:36

Put it in the dishwasher, if it's too big warm it up in the oven or with a hairdryer and sponge it off with kitchen paper.

You can get hob scrapers with very thin blade - that might work?

Thank you all , trying boiling water first as don't want to scratch the glass ? Is that a thing ?
It's too big / tall for the dishwasher ...

Can you use a hairdryer to heat the wax then use a microfibre cloth to wipe off until all gone? I use this technique for candle wax in stone and wood.

Bowl of soapy water

Boiling water, pour it so it goes into a container if you can't immerse the whole thing, then let the water cool. The wax will solidify and you can chuck it in the bin so it doesn't block the sink.

Rubbing alcohol removes wax from glass.
Boiling water/freezing could cause untempered glass to crack.

Scrape splatters off gently with the edge of an old credit card, or the blunt side of a butter knife (tbh I'd use my fingernails!) - anything which will scrape without scratching.

Then wipe clean any residue with nail varnish remover.

I'm a candle maker. Don't use boiling water on glass. Very likely it will break. Use a hairdryer and wipe it off as it melts.
If it's really sticky hard then it's likely to be beeswax so you may need some rubbing alcohol to get rid even after hairdryering. Vodka or Gin works too.

I put my glass under the warm running shower, wax just slides off :-)
