a durable kettle

hit me with your suggestions of long lasting kettles
I swear the one that's just broken is only 18 months old
I don't want anything fancy, all it needs to do is switch itself off when water boils, and I'm not keen on the jug shape
we have soft water, so that's not an issue- its the built in obsolesence that's the issue

I've got my eye on one of these for when my current kettle breaks, less plastic should help durability:

I have gone through so, so many expensive and cheaper kettles.

Only rules for me are that
I have to have stainless steel, and prefer a dome shape .

Ime, the length of time they last is in no way affected by the price.

Currently using one from Wilko's (available from The Range) that I'm very happy with. Copy of a Dualit that I had my eye on.

The Wilko kettle has a 2 year warranty and the Dualit, 1 year!

thanks
its been a frustrating thing to research as durability rarely features in reviews, and if you d see any mention of it - you realise you're reading a review written in 2002!
so I got one from Lakeland as they have a 3 year guarantee

I wrecked 2 dualit dome kettles back in the day, I have now a copy and it’s happily countering away at the moment, but it’s a tad noisy!!👻

What are you doing to them. The trick is to filter your water. Mine was 7 years old when I sent it with dd to university because I fancied a new one!

I use Bosch.

Pot luck. I bought a cheapish one from Sainsbury's, lasted six months.
Replaced with same model and have had it in heavy use for eleven years.

I think I overfilled them!!
I tried to buy a 3rd dualit dome but they don’t seem to be available anymore 🤔
