the small print is that my mum does the kids clothes. But I am fully wrinkled and proud!

i don't.

my mother keeps saying she'll buy me one.

Mung · 29/04/2008 20:13

Well, I kind of don't. I bought one for DH to iron his shirts for work. It only gets used by him for that reason and nothing else. I am a real fusser about how I hang my washing out to dry though

Mung · 29/04/2008 20:14

How do you get your Mum to do your children's clothes? I need some tips there. Mine does nothing but get them all excited and ruffled and then leave.

SquonkTheBeerGuru · 29/04/2008 20:14

mung - are you me?

I hang the washing out really carefully, and fold it nicely in baskets and hang it properly in wardrobes, but I rarely iron.

Dp irons his work shirts and trousers.

charliecat · 29/04/2008 20:15

When they were small there used to be an armchair in the corner HEAVING with clothes for weeks...she started taking it then.....and has continued for all these years (dds are 10 and 7 now)
She justified it to herself saying she didnt babysit much

Urrrghh, how can you not own an iron?!

Disenchanted · 29/04/2008 20:17

And should you be posting this is good housekeeping?

Mung · 29/04/2008 20:18

I am not you Squonk as I am not so careful about hanging properly in wardrobes. DH is and wont put too much in his, but I squeeze all my clothes that I am too fat for in my wardrobe.

Charliecat, I am not sure whether to be or .

Mung · 29/04/2008 20:20

My neighbours must think I am good at housekeeping if they watch me hang my washing on the line. I dont have clothes that need ironing really. I dont feel more wrinkled than anyone else I meet.

Haven't owned one for 10 yrs plus. I do borrow one occasionally if I need to turn up a hem. I don't have an office job though

treacletart · 29/04/2008 20:25

We've got one - but I don't know where it is

I own one but I haven't got a clue where it is since we moved house 6 months ago . Oddly enough it's the one job I don't mind doing but I don't need to

Seasider · 01/05/2008 12:10

We have one that we don't use. My Mother and I go halves on an ironing lady once a fortnight in winter, once a week in summer...
Is worth every penny in our book...

choccypig · 01/05/2008 12:12

I have one in cupboard, think I last used it about 3 years ago.

When DS went for his age 2 hearing test, one of the pix they showed him was an iron. I felt very silly when he piped up, "I don't know what that is"

Cicatrice · 01/05/2008 12:15

I have one, but I don't use it. Our cleaner does the ironing (DH's shirts for work) I only but stuff that doesn't need to be ironed.
