Alternatives to a freezer drawer

The drawers have always been a nightmare in our freezer. The flange (I think that's the word, the splayed out bit) on the bottom of the drawer isn't wide enough to sit on the inbuilt plastic runners and so slip off of it isn't exactly straight as you push it in. Over time, a dink has developed making it worse and worse.

I was woken by my phone at 2.30am by my dd who, in trying to get some bread out of the freezer, got the drawer completely stuck and couldn't sort it out. It took me a good while to get it back in and as a result took me far too long to get back to sleep. My sleep isn't great at the best of times, currently not helped by out by my dog who is up between 4.30-6am needing the loo (an age thing), so this wasn't great. I'm always happy to help her btw. She is disabled and her sleep patterns are very much governed by her chronic pain condition. But she could have really hurt herself trying to sort this out for herself.

Below the drawer there is a plastic covered metal shelf which I think I could use boxes and smaller storage containers, I just wondered if anyone else has done this and what you used. And if there were any issues and you had to go back to using a drawer.

I haven't but the shape brings to mind commercial bus trays. They are about the right proportions I think (not really trays, they are deeper) and come in different sizes.

I think it'll just be a question of scoring the internet for something plastic in the right dimensions. I wouldn't worry too much about the height - they will still be useable if too shallow. Even a tray might do the job somewhat.

I hope you both have a better night tonight.

I had a similar problem with my old freezer. I managed to find a replacement draw , it wasn't the same model but it did the job .
My current one has one draw that's a pain in the arse if it slips out of place so I tend to only use it for light things and only part fill it but I get that's not practical for a lot of people
