Expensive mugs

Are they always worth the money?

We have ONE which cost £14 and has lasted through all knocks against taps and such like, even being dropped.

Are all expensive mugs good, or are some no better than cheapies?

I've just bought 4 for £2.00 and I don't expect them to last long...

all my mugs currently cost about that i think but it is a first!

alittlebitshy · 28/04/2008 17:24

not sure. Most of our mugs are a total mish-mash. But i have 8 Denby mugs which match my crockery, but which i try not to use every day but equally are not for "best". They've not died yet - but when they start to break I'll be a bit annoyed cos Denby being Denby, you can't get them anymore .

hmm.. looks like it might be worth it.

We bought the really expensive mug when my husband and I were preparing our wedding list. I saw the mug on the shelf in John Lewis and asked my DH to pay for it while I was examining some china (which we've never used???). He went to pay for it and came back without saying a word. When I suggested I might get another couple he revealed how much he'd paid. When I asked him why he'd gone ahead, he said I'd asked him to do it, so he had. Ah, the beginning of a blissful married life!

susiemj, where did u get your dd's nightie from?

i need to get some more for dc#4, all mine from dd3 are pink, so would like a couple more neutral ones if i can find them.

The stripy one is from Green Baby but I think you can get plain white/cream ones from the Little Green Earthlets website. Sorry - hands too full to do links. Just google.

They're fab aren't they?!

I don't know about mugs but we have some expensive plates (about £10 each) that we've had for years and not one is chipped or broken.
I bought some cheap plates from Ikea (about £2 each) and two were chipped within a week. {angry]
Buying cheap stuff is a false economy imo.

It seems expensive IS the way. Taps her fingers until her next birthday....
